Basic DTT box

Hi

I am just wondering could anyone point me in the way of a basic DTT boxI have tried to contact the lads at SaorTv but no response. I seem to remember someone posting a box from New Zealand some time back but i cant find a link to it.

Any links would be great

Yes, it should. Not a bad price either at €60. Although it probably doesn't have MHEG5 for digital teletext.

Looks like an update to the cheapy DVB-500 boxwhich several boards users have purchased (and yes, it seems to work). This one is even cheaper at 60 quid and seems to include some sort of recording to an external usb device - not sure if it can do timed recording. It's not available till 8 January according to pixmania and noone else on the planet seems to sell it which is slightly concerning :rolleyes:

Might pick one up myself except that pixmania Faq says "For all orders, we ask you to send us a fax of a piece of ID". YEAH, RIGHT!!! What is this, the 80s?!

Infact do pixmania allow you to buy from the UK site. Because its cheaper by €5 allowing for the currency exchange.

The thing about the French boxes is that they dont have MHEG5. You can get by without it anyhow. A few cool things slipping into those french TNT boxes as a result of the MPEG4 processor and USB interface (ie has anyone noticed that the above box plays Divx video files and MKVs! for €60).

Likewise check out these other MPEG4 TNT HD boxes

Akira DHB-B36HR also has a USB port that plays Divx and MKVs and records (€65)

or the

Akira DHBB36HU also has a USB port that plays Divx not MKVs (€57).

Via the internet from France. They are for the French market. Ruedecommerce.com and topachat.com probably your best best. Try Pixmania.fr as well. Check shipping etc.
