mk2 vRS 2.0T to ?

Currently driving a 06 Octavia vRS 2.0T for the last 3 and a bit years. Fantastic car especially with a young family but lately have started to feel like a change.

Not going to go brand new this time but will look at anything up to a couple of years old.
Budget about 20-25K
has to be at least 200bhp.

Any suggestions? Would looking at selling privately and taking the boat too.

do you want more space, also is fuel consumption an issue. would you go back years?

What kinda car? Saloon, hatchback, etc. I presume it's still the family car? Any limit to engine size?

No not going to go back years and this would be a family/daily driver.
4/5 doors, big boot (saloon or estate). Back seats need to fold down too.
Road tax up to c.€600 a year I am ok with.
Has to be desirable to the general market in a couple of years too....

That limits your engine to a 2l. Very few saloons / estates with that small an engine have 200BHP or more. It will have to be a petrol turbo car. Subaru Impreza (old model)?

Damn, the Subaru turbos are 2.5l in recent years. How about a Lancer EVO? They're still only 2l. Within budget???????????????

2008 Accord 2.2 i-CTDi with leather etc. 300 odd quid road tax and a decent engine as diesels go.

I think you have a problem though; limiting the tax to about 600 (which is the 2.0L tax as you know), but requiring 200hp.

that really just means a Gti or similar hot-hatch; and the only saloon I can think of is the VRS you already have

how much movement is there on the tax, cause that opens up the options considerably?

Doesn't need it cos of all that torque, and we all know torque wins races.. shur with a remap it'd bate an m3 handy.

Well with the onset of low emission diesels I think moving any further up the road tax rates then I'll be married to the yoke for a long time...

I'll shy away from the scoobies and evos as the running costs are huge.

I was half thinking of a 2.0T A4 but petrol A4s don't really sell well again in this country. Its funny for all the reasons I bought the vRS in the first place there is probably not another car that could tick the same boxes.

Keep the suggestions coming please.

up the tax bracket, and you're into the bigger engines, both petrol and diesel.

also, its hard to stay within the 25k limit, and find an '07+ big-engine car with 200hp

you might get an '07 520d M Sport touring from the UK? PErsonally I think they look way better than the saloon. Fails the bhp test though.
