I viewed and test drove this car today. The car has only 34k miles and is from a year 2000 model.
I noticed there was a ticking noise coming from the engine when the car was stationary, when the engine was revved the ticking noise couldn't really be heard.
    The car drive perfectly otherwise.
I noticed the heater controls were stiff and one of the rear doors wouldn't stay open, it kept closing as if on a spring. Can they be easily fixed?

Does anyone know what could be causing the engine ticking noise?

chain could be a bit noisey on them, prone to oil sludge problems even with low milage, we have to clean out sump every service on any 9-3 or 9- 5 with over 40 on it.

Does the sludge problem affect the b204 engine too as this is what is in the car. I thought the sludge was only on the b205 later engine?

Also if it is the chain, is it something to be concerned about, ie big billls??
The car has only done 34k miles but was mainly used for short journeys so engine may have not heated up much during the time.
