o2 broadband on a mac...?

can it be done? my friend has the latest mac mini with 10.6 os. He has a huawei e220 He is trying to put o2 broadband. However it only works for a while and then it crashes. o2 say the latest mac os isnt compatible with the o2 latest software. is there any way around it without downgrading?

just a thought but have you tried huawei.com forums as they often have links to other providers who update their own software.
