DPD handle the Irish end, Hermes is a corner shop type of set up in Germany.
I've found them pretty useless in the past, but they have improved lately.

Thanks for that, I've sent DPD an email to see if they can help. I have deliveries coming from all directions and they are on time, UPS and DHL are great. It's the first time I've used Hermes and I'm not fond of them. I read about that cornership idea :( I have a delivery coming from Germany and from the day after Hermes took over the item has no longer been tracked online. I've never seen it disappear like that. The sending company doesn't speak well in English and they claim to not totally understand my German either. I have fears these days of more imitation items being shipped from China, this one better not be!

When I deal with German suppliers I usually ask that they not use Hermes,
Deutch Post is the fastest and cheapest as it's handled by DHL/An Post.

True, but GLS is fine too (at least I haven't had any problems with them and I receive lots of parcels from Germany each month).

Have you received parcels via Hermes while here in Ireland? Was the tracking information updated online? Mine hasn't been updated since last week, I think it's disappeared.
