I was on St. Patricks Hill that day, everyone was ready to see Lance and co.. Sadly when the riders started to come up the hill, everyone around was asking the question "Where was Lance? ". The whole hill had people with posters for him, the road itself had greetings mostly for Lance welcoming him to Cork and it was a great sight to see.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see him that day, or my favourite cyclist Mark Cavendish. Langers !

I was there myself that day. Was a little bit of rain IIRC. Thankfully we knew someone who lived on the hill although it was a bit of a fight to get up to their house and we were drenched by the time we managed it. I remember all the Livestrong stuff littering the street.

Some Kerrymans game I think. West Cork fellas play it as well apparently but they're just Kerrymen with shoes.;)

That PROC website is ridiculous, are they really narrow minded enough to believe that the reason he did'nt climb St. Patricks Hill is because he was unable??

    Also, a few technicalities -
    attempting to climb Patrick's Hill

    - He did'nt attempt to climb it
so-called fittest man in the world

    - I can't say I've ever heard him described as that
    supposed legend

    - Yes, I can see how winning the Tour De France 7 after a comeback from Cancer might leave his status as a "legend" in limbo. :/
he gave up barely a few yards into the slanty slopes of one of Cork city's highest peaks.

    - No he did'nt. :/

I'm not being a fanboy of Lance, I'm just annoyed by the usual idiocy of that stupid website, which unfortunatly degrades the name of the city I was born in.

And if it's meant to be a joke (which it fails at, especially in that bit at the end about the kid), then it really does'nt say much for the Cork sense of humour.

was mark cavendish not in this race , the fastest man on the planet( quote form the sports personality of the year ) to nite.

as so many people have focused on Armstrong .i watched hill climb up woodstock. even have good video of it.

at 38 touching 39 probably the most drug tested athlete of his time ,that rode 09 for free .

you have to ask your self a question do i want to kill my self n some poxy hill in cork .

    answer NO.

He's the self-styled most drug-tested athlete of his time. He probably wouldn't be even close to being the most tested cyclists of his time.

I'd actually say some sprinters are more tested than him, i.e. because of placings in stage races..

:D dont think its serious guys

"Not only that but he gave up barely a few yards into the slanty slopes of one of Cork city's highest peaks. As Armstrong puffed and panted a seven-year old with stablisers zipped past on his way up to Old Youghal Road. "

Say "slanty slope" in a Cork accent. It's hilarious.

I can't say it any other way.:)

Every Cork child knows that Patricks Hill is "the slantiest hill in the world".

It was good enough for cyclist like Lemond, Kelly, Bauer and Roche to climb in the great days on the nissan classic.
