Favourites Memory Full

    Hi all,

I have a sat nav with about 500 waypoints on it (use it for work)

Now, when I add a new waypoint it says Favourites Memory Full.

I have deleted the maps from the unit and put them on an sd card. I now have 1.36gb free on the sat nav.

But I'm still getting the error messsage, the current.gpx file is only 77kb so there's tonnes of space for more favourites, but I can't seem to add any.

Need to get this sorted as I don't want to have two sat navs just because I can't add more favourites!

    Any ideas?

You can use Custom POIs (points of interest) instead, but these will have to be managed with an external program like Mapsource(for Garmin) and uploaded to your unit.

    I'm guessing that it's a Garmin something-or-other you're talking about?
    current.gpx???
Some of these can only store 500 waypoints, eg. 200, 250, 760, 860 etc. Others can store 1000, and the Nuvi 5000 can store 3,000. I don't think you can transfer/store waypoints on the SD card.

It may be a PITA, but I'd suggest converting your waypoints, into POIs.
Firstly, copy your current.gpx file to somewhere safe on your PC.
Next download & install poiloader from Garmin, it's free.
Run poiloader, and when you get to the screen that asks "Select the device where you would like to store your Points of Interest.....", click on the down arrow beside the device window. You should see the "Removable Disk" which is the SD card in the Nuvi. Select it, and hit Next.

Select "Install new Custom POIs....." and hit next.
Browse for where you've saved the waypoint/current.gpx file.
Choose what units you want, and leave it in Express mode.
    Hit Next.
This will convert & save your waypoints into POIs on your SD card. The first time you start up the Nuvi, you'll be asked if you wish to transfer these to the Nuvi, choose no, and tick "do not ask again".

Now you will have to go to:
Where To - Extras - Custom POIs, to find your converted waypoints.

You can now delete all your old waypoints, and store another 500 :)

You can store 1,000s of Custom POIs, but you have to rename the files, or you'll overwrite your first batch! Only worry about that when you've filled the second 500.
