Anybody in the Louth-Meath area hear if the mighty St Mochtas beat Longwood in the Leinster Junior Club Championship Final? Should be over about now.

What do you mean nobody knows? Absolutely ridiculous. The biggest game today involving a team wearing blue and yellow jerseys and not one of you can tell me how it ended up. Shocking state of affairs.

Now I'm gonna have to pretend somebody replied to me with an answer which I hate doing as it makes me look sad and a bit of a loser.:
Hi Pighead, just heard the result there on the LMFM news at five. Good news for you mate as St Mochtas won quite convincingly by a scoreline of 1-12 too 0-11. There'll be some party in Louth Village tonight!

Thanks Helpful Poster. Great news. All Ireland Semi Final here we come! Ye Ha!
    Lu Abu!

Turns out Hopeful Poster was full of shit. St Mochtas actually lost by 0-11 to 0-10. Heartbreaking stuff.

A win would have got the Mochtas to an All Ireland Semi Final which is absolutely amazing considering the team come from a village with a population of about 200 people, 165 of which are alcoholics.

Not to despair Pighead but small consolation is that there is no All Ireland semi-final in these competitions I hear.I have been officiating at the Leinster Junior club matches in football but mostly hurling.

Speaking of St Mochtas,I was a sideline official for their match against Ballyboughal.St Mochtas are quite good and won that match with a bit of luck and cuteness.Made most of the wind advantage.

Oh and depending on what side of the pitch you were on in Balgriffin,if you were there,I was the tall surly official who has running up and down the sideline cursing under my breath and instructing for all the fans to get back behind the sideline.:D

I'm pretty sure there is an All Ireland Semi Final for the Junior Club Championship. It's on sometime in the last week of January.

St Mochtas were a tad unfortunate as they totally outplayed Longwood in the first match (they're manager even admitted St Mochtas had played all teh football and Longwood were lucky to snatch a draw). In the replay apparently St Mochtas were on top until they got a man sent off midway through the 2nd half. Had a 45 to equalize in the last seconds but the ref blew up for full time before we could take it. Harsh!

Ah well, was a good run and the boys did themselves proud.

I don't know but I heard from the referees co-ordinator here in Dublin that Leinster was as far as it went and the counties of where the match was played was in charge of supplying the sideline officials.

It is a good competition.I found that the football at Junior level in this competition reminds me more of intermediates, the standard is that good.

Just checked the GAA website and it appears to still be on. Unless they've cancelled it for some reason?

Yeah you're right about the standards being more at an intermediate level. Soem great players on show at this level. The new Louth manager was at the first game against Longwood and has drafted the Mochtas midfielder into his panel for next weeks trials. (Although in fairness I'd probably get a trial given the state of Louth football recently!)

You could do worse but I think they would be best suited on the Louth junior team first and then see how they get on.Few of the Ballyboughal lads were tipped to make trials for the Dublin senior team.
