Is this something recent? It sounds weird - is it possible someone turned a valve that they shouldn't have?

There might be a lot of air in the system try bleeding it. You can get a key in your local hardware and open the rad and let the air out. Only open a turn or two and you will hear the air venting, wait until the air stops as water will start to come out, then close the valve again. It is not really a valve more of a nut at the back of the radiator, the part facing the wall. Hope you get sorted.

I tried bleeding that does nothing.
No one as been at any part of this as i live alone.
I first noticed it a year ago but didnt think much of it as want at home much and only had the rads on down stairs anyway, but now i want to heat up the house i have this problem.
About a year ago i had to take off the switch on the rad at the bottom off and pull back up the small screw like thing that turns the heat up or down on just 1 rad, could this have anything to do with it.It is strange i no.
