Views on Thunderbird 3?

Now that Thunderbird 3 has finally arrived does anyone have on view on it? At the moment it has replaced Mail as my primary email client purely because it plays much better with gmail imap.

Labels don't cause multiple instances of the same email, sending mail does not take 30 seconds and it now integrates with address book and the OSX spellcheck :D

The interface isn't as snappy as mail but so far I'm impressed.

The lightning plugin is incompatible with version 3, so if you are using that, it would be wise to hold off updating until they release a fix for it.

Tbh I've stopped using standalone email clients. I created a Gmail app using Fluid which brings me directly to Gmail online and I do everything from there. Not perfect if you don't use Gmail but I find it has everything I need. I deleted Mail.app.

I've been using it in work since Beta. Where my imap inbox runs into 30k mails and local archive runs at multiple times that value.
There is a lightning version for thunderbird 3 but maybe it's only a nightly build and not a release yet. lightning is at 1.0pre release stage.
My primary reason is for using tb is the search functionality and tagging of mails using filters. Although I find the new global search results tab thing a bit slow to load. Once a result is loaded though it is pretty cool.

At home though I use Mail.app where I have far simpler needs.

I've tried that but I have never found a reliable way of setting up growl and audio notifications.

I quite like it. The tabbes email imo, is fantastic. Huge improvement on thunderbird 2.

I preferred the green star that told me how much unread mail i have though, compared to the new red one.

You can install the lightening add on now. It is a beta though. It's been fine for me. Go to the lightening add on page and there is a link to the working version there and the gmail api
