Ok firstly you need to know what type of PSP it is, there is 4:

Psp 1000 series - can be modified no matter what
PSP 2000 series - majority can be modified, once they dont have a certain revision of mother board
PSP 3000 sieres - cant be permenatly modded
PSP GO - I honestly have no idea

Send me a PM, i owe you :)

Firstly, you don't need to chip a psp you just need to softmod (install software). Luckily you are on a firmware where this can be done easily (although you may need to upgrade to 5.03 first). Check out this guide
