sorry if this is a silly question! im a bit confused about itunes. if i pay for a bunch of songs, and my laptop goes bust is there anyway of puttin the songs back on my laptop when its fixed, or are they gone forever unless iv backed them up?
im just trying to see if because you have paid for them do they remain on an online account or something, or is it just up to me to back them up?

It's up to you to back them up. You won't be able to re download for free.

If you have purchased items on an iPod or iPhone, you can use iTunes to transfer them back using an option in the File menu. If you do not, you can also talk to the iTunes Store support team on the Apple website, tell them what has happened and see if they will allow you to redownload the items.
