Stolen car crash in Tallaght

    Hi all,
Anybody hear anything about a stolen car crashing in Citywest yesterday about 1pm? I was driving down the Blessington Rd/Tallaght Bypass with my two dogs when a stolen car with (I think) 6 lads in it pulled out in front of me from my left coming from the Jobstown housing estate, we both jammed on our brakes and stopped about 5 inches apart, we all just stared at each other for a couple of seconds and then they quickly drove on, a Special Branch car was right behind them and chased them at top speed towards Blessington, seconds later a Police car and two more Special Branch cars came flying up the Bypass from Tallaght. When I was driving back home at
4pm the Blessington road at Citywest was cordoned off by the Police, I heard later that there was a huge crash involving 4 cars and apparently the Police had tried to stop one of the drivers, (obviously the stolen car). I heard there was eight people being treated in hospital, just wondering if anyone out there heard any more about it? The driver of the car only looked about 17 and one of the lads in the back of the car only looked to be about 12. Looks like me and my dogs had a very lucky escape. Very scary.

Well, they almost hit me so I was listening for news about it and about the actual accident, I got that from the news on 98fm plus what friends in the neighbourhood told me.

what i ment there was you seem to know more than what anybody else here would know, like it was you they nearly hit etc.

i'd say someone would've seen something similar but no guarantee it would be the same people.

there are many many young lads in cars (even robbed) in tallaght.

its like finding a needle in a hay stack ! :pac:

    See ya later!

But I agree on the garda advice. Ring them, you're a potential witness and they can probably tell you what happened

    Gardaí investigate major collision

    Updated: 11/12/2009
A serious road crash in Dublin which resulted in eight people being taken to hospital is being investigated by gardaí and by the Garda Ombudsman Commission.

The four-vehicle crash occurred on the N82 in Dublin at City West and the N81 junction for Blessington at about 1pm, a Garda statement said.

Three cars and a 4x4 vehicle were involved.

It is understood that gardaí from Tallaght station had been trying to stop one of the vehicles when the collision occurred. Eight people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was diverted at Saggart and Citywest and motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission confirmed the incident had been referred to it by the Garda Commissioner under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and that its investigators were at the scene.

It said no further details were available at this time.

I hope the 2 in the non-joyriding cars make a quick, painless and speedy recovery.

I hope the 6 in joyriding car have the most ****ing painful recovery known to man, short of dieing.

I dont want that and ya know why???

they will spend the next year in hospital at mine and your expense... Yup our tax euros will mend these people back to full health... It would of been alot cheaper for everyone if the ***** had died... ( no hospital bills / court costs )

Suppose, no expense for jail time either if given, it would probably be suspended though due to their age and slapped with a JLO.

You scrape all of the blood, gristle and vehicle remains off the road, load the lot into the back of your truck, and drive off laughing even before the ambulance arrives.
