Accommodation in Saalbach or Ischgl at mid term

I'm having real trouble finding affordable accommodation for 7 people in Saalbach for mid term (Feb 13 – 20). I'm not looking for anything too fancy- just somewhere central for under €500 for the week. Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

I’ve started looking at Ischgl instead and accommodation actually looks more affordable here even though everyone seems to say Ischgl is more expensive than Saalbach. Any advice or suggestions on accommodation in Ischgl would be greatly appreciated as well.

    Thanks in advance.

Let me do a bit of digging for you, we have rented large apartments in Saalbach town for approx €1100 for the week, which is good value in m opinion. That would work out at approx €160 each between 7 for the week.

Do you mean under €500 for accommodation for eveyone or under €500 per person?

Also note its very late in the year to be booking apartments, a lot of the availability will already be booked up.

Thanks Overflow- we're looking for under €500 each so €1100 would be brilliant! I'm learning very quickly that I should've done all this about 2 months ago!

Try contact pension Enzian. They have good prices including food. We are going there in March and paid 700 euros for a double room half board :)

Hey when searching for apartments i use the keywords: 'Landhaus' or 'Pension'. There is a street in saalbach town called 'Ronachweg' which has tons of apartments on it for rent. Not all have websites, some you will only have an email address, so you will have to do a bit of work and send out some emails, also Google Translate comes in handy.

We stayed in this one last year, very nice place, they have no website:
    Landhaus Büka Bürkle (gg.buerkle@t-online.de)

A quick search turned up these:
    http://www.landhaus.gappmaier.at
    http://www.saalbach.cc/thurnhofer/index-e.htm
http://www.saalbach380.com/ - This one is central and right beside a ski slope.

You should also go to the Saalbach website and go to the accomodation section, search for properties with the types, Aparthotel, Aparment House, Private house, Guest house, you will find tons of results. Its worth the extra effort as you can get somewhere really nice and it works out much cheaper than a hotel.

The Saalbach website is pretty good for lists of accomodation. I'd say try to get one in the town itself as Overflow said.

I sent 104 emails to apartments and hotels in Saalbach. Most were full and didn't get offered anything for under €850 each for the week! I think I'm just too late looking. After all my efforts in Austria I think I'm going to have to give up and look elsewhere. Livigno looks like it might be a better option...

You might have done this already - but if you email the tourist office, they'll find you something if they have it free.

I just booked a week in Mayrhofen. Good value to be had. Hope the weather holds up heard its great out there at the moment!!!

Anyone any tips on getting cheap car rentals? Seems very expensive when you add in all those nasty extras. Feckin transfers are so expensive compared to french airports. That been said I much prefer the Austrian food, craic, etc.

www.autoeurope.com - make sure you tick all available car options when searching. We got a Volvo S80 for 4 days for €90 last year from Geneva!
