started 8/11/09 and worked 2 days a week for most of Nov as the weather was so bad, this i will understand, but on 3 of the weeks, the saturdays were clear beautiful days and they never turned up. so if it rained monday thursday and friday, they only worked tue and wed. but wouldnt dare turn up on the sat to try and earn extra doh. . got 4 days done last week and most of this week once the rain cleared, a drizzel of rain and they are gone. . . 6 loads of blocks since 8/11/09.
now this might be all standard and its the way blocklayers work, , i dont know.

contrast this to my cousin, started 8 days ago, and is already putting up the 6th load, working hale/snow/sunshine/rain. now he has 3 block layers and a labour i have 2 and a labour.. . .this weekend and most of next week will be fine, but my blocklayers wont be here tomorrow (sat) but my cousins lads will be on site at 8 tomor .. . . .

if my cousin wasnt building beside me id know no different, but its difficult to stomach . . any ways, thats my venting done.. .lol

    hey MERRY CHRISTMAS

So 5 weeks, and they have earned about 5000 between them. 2k each for the blocklayers & 1k for labourer. I suspect they are on another job too.

    Yaw yaw yaw ,
There on another job , the wheathers crap , they have more than one job on the go to make up for delays etc in others . Otherwise how could they be in business , there not sitting at home playing 25 , smoking fags , drinkin tea and having a good old laugh at you . Its in there intersted to get the project finished to get paid . And we hope your paying by cheque , so the subbies pays vat 13.5% , employers prsi , income tax , Cif pension contrubtions , public liab insurance , employers liab insurance . Materail & tool supply & also hoiliday pay & public holidays .
Hope this gos some way to help you .;)

I thought at first they are on another Job, but no way are they from what i have witnessed, arriving at 12 in the day for a few hrs block laying. . .

not to mention visiting my cousins site and all blocker layers with backs bent, then went to mine and none to be seen until i went around the back of the house, 3 sitting in a van reading newspapers and drinking coffee. . .lol i just find it amusing. . . . These guys are deffo not double jobing. .
oh, and also if they are, they are the best weather forecasters in the world, , , , they seem to be on my site every dry minute of the week. . .

but hey, work is good and im happy, and thats all i can ask for. . . . .

    HO hO hO

You see, this is where a written and signed contract is allways invaluable before a build commences, regardless of how cheap or expensibe a job/build is.

Builders: It's either a feast or a famine. I've worked with two recently and one worked like a trojan, the other couldn't care less sadly.

they would be very foolish to be working in hail or rain .they have worked an average of 15 days so far.
they have laid 6336 blocks 6 loads an average of 215 blocks per blocklayer per day.
if they are doing good work and with the short days this time of year they are making fairly good progress.
the guys on the site next door working in the rain we used to have a name for them on the building sites fools.
its no fun to be crippled with arthritis in your forties ive seen it.

I fail to see the relevance of this thread with regards to the purpose of the forum. There is however a ranting and raving forum should anyone feel the need to carry on with this.

    Locked.
