Please note that, contrary to what many sources report, this new Triassic dinosaur was not the direct ancestor of T.rex. However it is a very significant discovery as it represents an entirely new lineage of Triassic theropod dinosaur seperate from the two previously known groups which include Herrerasaurus and Coelophysis respectively.
Dubbed Tawa hallae, this 6 foot long carnivore, which was found at the legendary fossil site known as Ghost Ranch (New Mexico), is featured in this month's issue of Science magazine which went on sale today.
