Just bought Tekken 6 for Psp from Smyths today for €29.99, it is €39.99 on PSN, Little Big Planet is also €29.99 in HMV and is €36.99 on PSN, same with smaller games such as Breath of Fire 3 which is €10 in Gamestop and €15 on PSN,just seems to me we are paying too much.

The difference is that the RRP on digital titles, without proper price management, stays the same. Even in retail, the RRP stays the same on most games but the retailer drops the price to shift stock. Such an issue doesn't exist with digital stores, so Sony just leave them there. They still haven't done steam-esque sales and offers yet, but I'd say that'll be the next step as they all try to figure out this digital business!

I did get monster hunter when it was on sale on psn for 21 and it was 30 in shops so you do get a bargain every now and again but they really should have more sales

I think some of the prices are quite reasonable (Disgaea for 15 euro is perhaps the best bargain I've gotten this year), and always worth keeping an eye on the special offers section. I do think their pricing of new games is a bit steep though - in reality a new game should be cheaper when digitally distributed through saving money on any number of middlemen (packaging, retailers etc...) but as Steam and PSN have shown it isn't going to go that way (I suppose it is a good opportunity for developers and Sony to make healthy profits). However, as said some of the sale prices are fantastic and once it is running as smoothly as Steam or say the App store I'd imagine plenty of bargains will be had.

While we would all like to see digital prices be cheaper, its not gonna happen apart from short term special offers.

Sony has to sell them at the RRP, otherwise all the bricks and mortat and online stores would either sue them for driving their profits down or boycott them completely. Say a game has an RRP of €40, B&M stores sell it for €35 and then Sony drops it to €20, independant sellers will cause an uproar as Sony is pricing them at a rate they can never match to boost their own internal sales, could be seen as a monopoly of sorts.

Fair point. Maybe it would be an idea for two tiered pricing. One for PSPGo users who have no option but to go to the online store, and one options for regular PSP users who have the option.

I wouldn't mind getting LBP for the PSP but it's 35 (?) online but 25 in HMV but since I have a Go, I'm waiting for a drop.

Sorry but is piracy not rife on the PSP? Can you not get these games for free with a few clicks of a mouse?

Yup, but as he stated, he's got a psp go, as of yet, not hacked.

I dont think so, I havent heard of any uproars from steam selling cheap pc games, and believe me they have had some brilliant offers as of late. Retailers drop there prices all the time, I cant see sony not doing it themselves when its suits, they already took a massive dump all over retailers with the psp go anyway.
