    Gardai called in to investigate Galway website

    Gardai in Galway have been asked to investigate the content of a website after allegations were made against a number of hurling people in the county.
    The development comes as the county braces itself for a contentious annual convention of the Galway Hurling Board tonight, when all six positions at the top table are being contested.
    Gardai have confirmed that they have been asked to investigate the content of a website message board, which contained serious allegations concerning a number of individuals.
    "A complaint has been made and it is being investigated," said a garda spokesperson.
    The gardai have been asked to establish the identify of a number of people who posted the messages on the website.
    A number of messages have since been removed or edited on the site.

    A similar incident happened on a popular Dublin GAA website a few years ago...people think they can say what they like on internet messege boards. Btw, did you hear about the............

    Ya i'm a member on that site, only an observer though, got an email from them a few days ago, hadn't a clue what it was about, it didn't really say anything meaningful(i know that doesn't make sense but all it hinted at was a problem and no specifics were mentioned, just said to keep an eye out for updates} so didn't know what was happening till now

    Ya a lot was said about members of the hurling board, in one recent thread it even went as far as to name individuals allegedly involved in skimming from the gate receipts at the county semi final, the numbers apparently didn't add up.

    Wasn't moderated AFAIK, and only had the same 5/6/7 lads posting, all in the know with the local game(basically a hurling site), so from areas like Loughrea, Portumna etc....
