With yout budget it should stretch to a VAG car with a DSG gearbox.

Im not to sure when the DSG replaced the multitronic system.

Lexus autoboxes would probably be the most reliable. DSG boxes older than 2005 shouldn't be trusted, although they're more reliable than the dreadful Audi Multitronic box. I have no idea how Audi got away with that disaster. OP I wouldn't just buy a car on the reliability of the autobox, there's a lot more to take into account.

Sell it privately, you'll get more for it that way.

She is a beautiful car, but I dunno if I have the time to meet multiple prospective buyers / tyre kickers.

Any idea what she is worth to a dealer? If their car is worth circa 11?

She is a manual 5 speed. I think its a top of the range version. Alloys, Chrome surround. Body work perfect. Serviced by a garrage. 125 miles. Irish plates. Saloon. Audi Multi chager cd thingy etc.

I can't see how an 02 A4 is worth 11k. 02 Passat TDIs are making about 5-6k at the moment.

No, Mine is An Audi 2002. Trade in Value?

The Dealers car is 11K - Skoda

Apologies. I reckon yours is worth 7k. i.e slightly more than the equivalant Passat.

sold an 02 passat comf tdi today for 4600, 140k though,

as above i'd recomend the DSG box, havent heard of any trouble from these and i've handled quiet a few of them.

Yep, A4 130TDI with 125k miles comes in between 6500 and 9500 on Carzone. No way you'd get 9500 though, realistically 7000. It's an Audi, not a Bentley!

You think a dealer would give me 7K for her as a trade in? (Their car worth 11K approx)

Doubtful, you might get €6k though. Again, far better selling it privately.

There are 36 2002 A4s on carzone - only 5 are dearer than yours.

    Niow stop pimping your car!

If trading it in in a main dealer of the same marque you'd possibly do better than a private sale.

ask how much you can get the Skoda for straight. also include in the ad that it's Irish car. you have the reg blanked off for some reason.

    price is too high.

Why not just price it a little above what you expect to get for it?

Pricing it well above what you are willing to take for it will just result in you getting little or no interest. Nobody will pay close to €9k for an A4 that is 8 years old in just over 2 weeks time. A buyer will not expect to get alot off the price from a private sale therefore they will just look elsewhere.

Anyway I thought this thread was about reliable auto transmissions.
