'Counterfeit' Puppies Sold Over The Internet: There's no cheap way to own a puppy!

    Hi everyone!

With two weeks to go before Christmas the annual animal welfare crisis begins. For anyone who has taken leave of their senses and are still considering buying a dog this Christmas this was a lead story on Sky News today:

Dog-lovers are being urged not to buy cheap pedigrees over the internet as the RSPCA estimates thousands of the animals are "counterfeit" breeds that may carry diseases.

Customers are being duped by fake pedigree papers and vaccination forms when buying dogs at discount prices online, the charity claims.

Sue Royle, an RSPCA spokeswoman, told Sky News Online: "The reason fake vaccination forms are a problem is to do with the conditions the puppies are bred in.
"If there are many dogs in a cramped space, they are likely to spread diseases."

It advised people who plan to purchase a pedigree breed to get in touch for a list of accredited and reputable breeders.

So buyer beware people. Please pay a bit extra to get your dog from a reputable breeder and lets not perpetrate the barbaric problem that is puppy farming.

    Happy Holidays!

    LL:)

It's a fair point to make but I'm locking this thread as I don't want a debate on the right or wrongs of buying a dog over rescuing one.
