    Cultural Context
    Literary Genre
    General vision and viewpoint

    Lies of Silence
    Il Postino
    Dancing at Lughnasa

What are the questions that can come up? Are there any absolute bitch questions that for example in a cultural context essay would prevent you from writing about familiy life, the society in which the texts are set etc?

    Hi there!
Generally, Cultural context focuses on how a society in a text influences the lives of the central character.
Look at CC under the headings
    Religion,
    Class Division,
    Relationships,
    Power/wealth,
the role of women and men, etc

ASAIK, the answer for CC focuses on all aspects of the different societes portrayed in the texts and the hard part is probably linking all 3 texts.

GV&VP analyses whether the text is pessimistic or optimistic or a mixture of both and the impact the text had on you as a reader. You then discuss why you found the text to be pessimistic or optimistic.

Literary Genre looks at the way the story is told. I don't plan on answering this question because to be honest, I find it kind of confusing!

Hope I helped a little bit!

    :D

We're only doing cultural context. Does CC come up every year?

You need to know another mode. So far, cc has come up every year, but people are expecting a surprise this year. There are 3 modes, 2 come up on the paper; therefore, leaving two out is highly risky. Remember the comparative is 70 marks, more than a full grade.

Leaving two out is risky, most people leave out 1.
