Seve will get this award at this months BBC Sports personality show. I think this is great news for one of Europe's greatest ever golfers. Looking forward to the show and I hope they allocate enough time to this great man.

Agreed. Will be interesting to see if how his recovery is coming along. He looked very frail in that program with Alliss that was aired recently on BBC. Would be great to see him being a little competitive in St. Andrews next year.

Would be great just to see him on the golf course. I think its great when the modern players refer to Seve and make sure one of the games most charismatic players is not forgotten. I like watching the review of the year but this year will be special with this addition. I hope Aliss presents the award.

yep seve is definitely a deserved winner but i pray that he doesn't play in st. andrews next year. He should definitely play in the past champions 4 hole competition which i think is on the tuesday or wednesday. But seriously i'm too young to remember him playing but i've seen clips and his record speaks for itself. He'd only embarrass himself by playing. The man is a legend but he shouldn't be relegating himself to just a hacker. I'd hate to see him shoot a big score around st. andrews cause lets face it he probably will. Look at jack nicklaus for instance, when he played his last open at st. andrews i think he ended up missing the cut by one. He was still competitive and able to play golf at a good standard up till the last. So please Seve don't play at st. andrews. Let's just cherish the memories of him when he was playing at his peak.

Got a bit ahead of myself there (thought he was appearing in person)

    A Legend.

Even though he's not there it is still very emotional. Great player who thoroughly deserves this award.

Only caught the last few seconds of the award to Seve...(curses the BBC for moving the start time to early evening...it never used to start that early when I was a chizler)...poor old Olly was getting very emotional

I'd have been mad if I'd missed it. Thanks for the heads up, Rednik!

Just think back to all those great Ryder Cup memories those two great Spaniards have given to all of us. I'm sure it was very emotional and very hard for Olly to present the award to Seve.
