PS3 - Metacritic's console of the year!

"Sony’s Playstation 3 console has edged out Microsoft’s once-dominant Xbox 360 to finish on top in Metacritic’s first annual Game Platform Power Rankings".

Bit silly really, without Braid (which wasn't counted for the 360 because it wasn't this year) they'd have been equal.

    That's a bit ridiculous :)

It's rating the PS3 higher than the 360 cos 43% of it's games were rated as 'good' (as opposed to 35% on the 360).

But the 360 had more games released. So whilst the PS3 had 98 'good games' (43% of 228) the 360 had 97.65 (35% of 279).

    That's a 0.35% difference.

In terms of top reviewed games, Uncharted is a clear standout at 96. But the rest are either multi-platform or within a percentage of one another. (God of War being a PS2 game etc.).

Still, it's great to see the PS3's library getting beefed up a bit with some nice exclusives. Must pick up Uncharted 2.

    Your post is ridiculous.

You point out that the PS3 had a better percentage of good games, and more actual good games. So how is it not the year's winner?

I think the point he's trying to make is that the difference is negligible. In fact anything lower than a percent difference is a tie in my books. Also, how do you get 0.65 of a game. Effectively the numbers are equal.

Regardless, it has been a good year for the PS3. If anything I'm glad to see it neck and neck with the 360.

Doesn't mean anything. All I know is that this year I actually had a few good reasons to turn my PS3 on.
