My dentist is baffled.

I had a filling done on a back tooth, and a couple of weeks later i experienced sever pain in it with cold drinks.

I went to a second dentist who suggested he re-do the filling coz there may be a hairline crack in the filling, so he did this and it was fine for 3 weeks but now the pain is back. But this time with hot and cold, and i cant even chew on that side as it hurts more than ever.

He cant pin point the problem at all, he'd blast it with air and it hurt like hell, but then the pain wud subside and i wudn't feel the pain again. He doesnt' think its a case for root canal, he thinks if he does RC theres a good chance the pain may still be there, coz the tooth might be cracked. He mentioned removing the tooth which i REALLY dont want.

He's very puzzled so has referred me to an endodontist.

Has anyone any thoughts on this? My heads wrecked coz i cant get a proper diagnosis. Its a really small filling and a healthy looking tooth. He put a temporary seal on it which has helped alot.
 is there something like this more permanent he could do??

Sounds like the endodontist is exactly the correct person to see, they see these difficult diagnostic problems all the time and will get you sorted.

    best of luck

Dentist did mention it could be a crack, but after reading that Im convinced.

I was never a night time grinder but I think Ive been at it lately, cause I wake myself up at night with the pain!! This all makes sense now...

    Thanks for link!
