I hope i am posting this in the correct area, but people need to be made aware... there are people hijacking hotmail accounts and sending the following email to all contacts in the account "HeyHow are you doing? I ordered one white 3gs apple iphone from one good website faonyt.com , much cheaper but brand new ,agenuine , You can check it if you would like .Cheers" it looks like it has come from a friend or family member & the offers on the site are amazing... i have to admit i nearly bought a HP laptop for €300... they offer a bank transfer which my back have confirmed is not secure... proof this site is a scam is all over the web if you google the address & here is a real case of somebody who has been burned: http://community.travelchinaguide.com/forum2.asp?i=55667 I hope this prevents anyone on here being scammed, ByeSteve

I'm not sure if it's just Hotmail they're using as I use Yahoo! and have been getting email like this for the past few weeks. Sometimes they go to my inbox and other times to my spam box. Does anyone know of a way to stop spam emails getting into my inbox please?

If my email address has been hacked, then it is the second time it has happened to me, as before (earlier this year) someone used me email to sign up to Twitter using all my details and then logged into my email to see the validation email Twitter sent.

An example of two, currently in my spam box.

My Mum's hotmail address has also been hacked and used to send SPAM. I don't know how they do it as she only uses her 'safe list' and sends/receives e-mail from no-one else.

My Hotmail account was attacked yesterday after receiving replies from people in my contact list wondering why I was endorsing faonyt.com to buy an iphone.
The scammers had stolen my contact list, used it to send this bogus email suggesting people go to their website, and then they erased my contact list. This immediately rang an alarm bell with Microsoft who branded me a scammer myself for sending so many emails at once. So they temporarily switched off my ability to send any more!
Oh yes, just rub it in, they changed my junk mail settings to 'exclusive' and switched on the other setting: 'delete all junk mail as soon as it arrives'. Very Clever. Since I no longer had any contacts, when they replied, they went straight to junk where they were deleted. So, it took me some time to realise what had happened.
I reported it to Microsoft, but got no reply - it looked like they were snowed under with similar tales from this scammer.
Eventually, I recreated my contact list from my sent folder, scanned my machine using Microsoft Malicious Softwae Removal Tool, Norton, and AdAware. Then after that cleanup I changed my password.
    So, watch out.
