Paisley's 'take seats from Nats' call won't work.

In the Belfast Telegraph yesterday, Ian Jnr posted an article suggesting that Unionists could do a deal to maximise the unionst vote at the expense of Nationalists, but doesn't seem to have thought it through. Given that he's gone so public with it, SF and SDLP now know what they have to do to keep the two seats Paisley is getting all worked up about. The siege mentality is alive and kicking obviously. Why did he bother?.

Seems a silly move alright. To go public (though let's be honest, who wouldn't have expected it) is daft as SF and SDLP will just strengthen their own co-operation.
