tip for the top - never believe what their website says about stock levels - it bears no relation to reality

and there's always the dread Cyclogical if you feel like some abuse/ignoring/wonderful attentive service depending on the alignment of the planets today

Frank or Rob @ wheelworx are more than likely gonna be able to sort you out with these www.wheelworxbikes.com/
If you've the bike they'll probably fit them for you if time permits.

No official affiliation with the shop just a happy customer.

I would go for 700x25 in Gatorskins personally, especially if it is for winter use.

Would that compromise speed much ?

whats the advantages / disadvantages of 25 to 23

My commute is 14kms mostly on malahide road/fairview/North strand so good surface got 1 mile on back Portmarnock roads but not too bad

Staggs might have them if you give them a ring.

    Lucan though...

23 to 25 will not compromise speed AT ALL, honestly. 25s will be less skittish, you run them around 10 PSI lower. It will give you a bit more comfort and a bit more grip especially in the wet, although Gatorskins are not the grippiest tyres in the world to start with. They are a good commuting choice though, one of the best balances of price/ride quality/puncture protection. Basically you get more grip from a softer tyre which wears and punctures more so it is a tradeoff.

I have 25s on my road bike for the winter and they are noticably grippier than 23s- although I went for Maxxis Columbieres which are a softer, racier type of tyre... much more likely to puncture than Gatorskins I reckon but I wanted the ride quality. I use Gatorskins on my commuter and tourer.

You do need to bear in mind that Gatorskins come in two varieties, one with a wire bead and one with a kevlar folding bead. The latter is more expensive. From the weight Halfords quote though it seems they are selling the wire bead one.
