I seen one of these on top gear last week and really liked the look of them. Does anywhere in Ireland sell them I can only find 1.0 - 1.2 litres on Irish car sites

I assume you mean used?(otherwise you'd just go to a main Renault Dealer surely?) . Probably hasnt been any sold here yet, or if there has the ones that were sold arent being parted with yet.

I hate to come over all logical like:)

Yeah they do look nice even if the general fit and finish of the car is v cheap in general...alas these would probably cosy 20k or more new here ,the 1.2GT is a ridiculous 16k+...might get some significant discount with scrappage but they are till so much more than the basic one ...Id imagine a used one imported would work out very dear ,their emissions are quite high relatively speaking...I think it will be a good year or two before you could consider one from the UK at a half decent price -if you could find it ...

I don't really see the point of a 1.0-1.1 tonne car with a 133bhp engine and dubious looks.

Spend your money on a CRX, MX5 or even an Elise instead. Jeez, even a Glanza outguns a Twingo.

Well I twingo is far safer than I glanza (and all the above)and I would say a Twingo would fair better around a track too. A decent elise would cost more than a new Twingo and a twingo has more room than all the above bar maybe the glanza.

If you're buying a Twingo cos it's safer then buy a Volvo. On the track, forget it.

Yet another - at best - mediocre French car

Without looking it up I'd guess the Twingo has a built-to-budget McPherson strut front suspension and a shoelaces-tied-together rear beam. Not a great start in fairness... Added is 83bhp per litre which is kind of 80s.

Doesn't have to be sophisticated to be good. It's simple, robust, reasonably light, and still goes like a pocket rocket. It's not the most powerful, but it's better at handling rougher roads, and probably a better real-world hot-hatch.

I'd buy one if I had the cash...

(Actually, I'd by the RenaultSport Megane if I had the Cash.... not as powerful as a FocusRS, but more understated, and a better car on the road)

If it's too heavy, you could always take things like the rear seats out to save a few kilo's anyway.

And anyways, if it *didn't8 have any of those weighty conveniences, it'd be slated as being behind the times and completely unmodern. The problem is, all this standard equipment considered 'civilised' for a car to have, aren't light.

100bhp per tonne is alright for a car of this type.

    It's not really. A BMW 520 is 100bhp/tonne.

The Fiat 500 Abarth, which I'd also consider a toy car, does about 150bhp/tonne. CTR/Golf GTI is up on 160bhp a tonne.
