    Hi All,

I have a nephew aged 14 in Galway. He's a big lad, a rugby player. He used to be really into archery until rugby started taking all his time. He had real potential as an archer but my sister wanted to push him into something more social at school, and I think rugby was a good choice.

Now like any young man he's into guns. I've bought him a couple of airsoft guns that he likes.

I'd like to take him someplace where we could shoot some real guns. Is that a possibility given his age?

I should add I'm an absentee uncle, i've been in the US for 20 years so I'm really rusty on the reguations. I've tried searching but nothign much turns up.

    thanks in advance...

It's not his age thats the problem, it's his country of residence. If you really want to put a smile on his face invite him to the USA for Christmas and go to a range there. If he can't make it I could in his place! :D:D

Might be worth finding out if the new garda regs concerning 14 year olds and training certificates is OK. Talk to a clay shooting club as they might be able to help get him started.

€40 to licence him to shoot with your gun, under a training cert. 14 is old enough. Will probably need a safety course and a note from you giving permission to use your gun

    Great Info thanks.

There's a local adventure centre at Delphi that teaches clays so I can try them.

    +1

I had a friend come over on holiday a few years ago with his 8 and 12 year olds and did just that. Fun. And I learned that an 8 year can indeed handle a .44 magnum!
