Hi ,I'm looking to get my dad something golf like for christmas.
I was thinking of getting a two person pass for a good golf course ,along with use of the facilities (golf cart).

Anyone with any advice ,would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I'm going to get my old man a voucher for Concra Wood in Monaghan. Would be thinking of heading up towards the end of March when the weather settles down hopefully.

The concra wood course looks nice :)

Living in dublin ,kileen castle would be an easier day with driving included ,maybe:confused:.
Concra wood seems a little far for a trip there and back.

I don't golf myself ,maybe someone would know best here?
    Thanks for the replies.

the Heritage GC in Laois does a great day out deal:

€90.00 per golfer, subject to availability
The above rate includes 18 holes on The Heritage Championship Course, Breakfast Bap with Tea or Coffee on arrival, Soup & Homemade Brown Bread in th Spike Bar after 9 holes followed by Steak Dinner in the clubhouse

    class golf course.

Also Carton House should be considered, but only the O'meara course unless you want to give dad a pain in the head - Do not book him on the montgomerie course.

the OMeara course is great fun. highly recommended by me!

I'd agree with Killeen Castle. It's new, it's hosting the Solheim Cup in 2011, and it's beautifully maintained. It's generous too, so your dad won't be slogging his way around. You could, alternatively, pay for him to have a half day's coaching at the Dave Pelz Academy (also at Killeen)

If not there, then the Heritage recommendation is a good one

Didnt think much of the Heritage to be honest, the spa is good but the course needs some planting and a lot of maturing IMO.

Can't find that offer on the Heritage site blackwaterfish. Do you have the links?

Sorry for not getting back to this thread.

I went for the killeen castle round for two ,got a little help from my sisters to pay for it.
The two hundred euro was a bit much for me on my own:o

    Thanks for the replies.
