Remington Wet to Straight - Miracle Frizz fighter?!

    Hi Guys,

My sister recently bought the Remington Wet to Straight hair straightener and said it's teh best purchase she ever made. Her hair is usually kinda frizzy from years of dyeing it and such but she said with this it's like silk.

She lives in London and got it for 40 quid. I live in Galway and saw it in Argos reduced from €105 to €55. I also found it in a little shop for only 40 quid!

I am absolutley smashed but I want this so badly.

Has anyone else used this? She said it's better then her GHD and that there's frizz preventing ceramic plates and it's a money back guarantee.

She normally hates her hair but now she loves it.

Too good to be true?? I'm just worried it might just be great on her hair. She said she always drys her hair fully first even though you can use it on wet hair. Mad..I'm dying to try it but don't have 40 quid to blow. 40 is a steal if this straightener really is fantastic!

    Anybody else have this?

    Thanks

I've had it for a few years.

Works really well on my hair, which is wavy to curly if I blowdry it. Used to use it wet to straight all the time before, but now I dry it first, then straighten.

Good deal for €40 I would think. Still think GHDs are a little better though.

    Off to use mine now!:D

My friend had one of these and I was borrowing it before when staying in her house just after washing my hair and jeez the sizzling that came off my hair using it although it didn't seem to damage it I would just be worried that its a long term effect more.
Or else I could be over reacting and it probably does the same damage as a normal straightener would but the whole wet to straight really doesn't seem right

your hair is more sensitive(not the proper word for hair) when its wet,its more likely to break

That was my first straightener and while being able to straighten your hair when damp instead of going through the whole blow-drying it first rigmarole is handy, in terms of straightening my hair it sucked and my hair was wrecked after a while

I had one of these for a couple of years and used to use it on wet hair. Not quite as effective as the GHD but didn't damage my hair any more than another straightener. Also it was dead handy not having to blowdry my hair first.

Only reason I got rid of it was I got a GHD on special offer. Try your sis's first if you can.

I read before that the sizzling sound you hear is the water inside your hair boiling, which weakens and seriously damages it. I wouldn't rush to use it!

I read this too - 'hold straighteners on your hair until you hear a sizzling noise - this is your hair drying'

It has to be bad for your hair, how can it not be?

I mean the hair dryer and ordinary straighteners are bad enough! Putting 100+ degree plates on my wet hair - no please!

The extra bit of work in drying and straightening separately is worth it :D

If it's the wide plate straigteners and the fact she's drying her hair first it could be why it's so great.

They come down to half price in Jan in argos and Littlewoods sometimes even boots so you could try them then.

I know the Red babyliss one is on sale in Argos at the mo, that's supposed to be great, I have the bronze edition previous to the release of the red one and it's just crap on my hair cos the plates are too thin.

If ever your buying one from Argos and you have no idea what it's like, go to the UK argos site and you'll get the customer reviews there, plus you have the option of paying the lil bit extra for the 3 years insurance on things in Argos handy at times, save waiting on something to be fixed, just walk in and get a replacement!
