    Hi in a panic here!

Okay forgot to take my pill Tuesday evening, took it lunch time wednesday (yes I know about the 7 day rule thingy but anyway - In a long distance relationship and OH coming home TOMORROW NIGHT so I took it! Have taken pill correctly yesterday and today but feel like I am starting to get my periods - not be too graphic but ye all no how you start with light "discharge" rather than bleeding; well thats what happening...Question is since I have taken my pill correctly since then will that mean I wont get my period/it'll stop...please god say yes...I sound like a sex freak here but when we only get to see each once in a blue moon!

Please advise, think I'm making myself more and more paranoid!

Rather than worry about whether or not you will get your period, which you can do nothing about at this point, maybe consider some other options. Sex in the shower for example?

  • You're getting withdrawal bleeding which is what often happens when you miss pills. If you only missed one, it's unlikely to be a full on period and will probably settle down soon, but everyone is different.

There is no point in freaking out about your period. Have sex anyway. Life is too short to care about stuff like that!

Raising a child takes 18+ years. That's quite a long time.

Well, OP said they were aware of the '7 day rule', so unless she is a complete moron, I presume she will be using back-up protection, since her biggest worry seems to be the fact she has her period as opposed the fact she isn't protected by the pill.

Make the lad wear a condom.
    Not huge deal presumably?

The poster I was responding to mentioned nothing about back up contraception, I was pointing out that to say
Have sex anyway. Life is too short to care about stuff like that!
could be considered irresponsible. I don't believe people should rely on the pill as a sole form of contraception.

Wait. Is the OP's issue that she might get pregnant? The way I read is that she's worried her period will arrive while her BF is in town and it will interfere with their having sex.

As the OP has already addressed the 7 day rule, I took it to mean life is too short to worry about having sex on your period as opposed to too short to worry about contraception. And why shouldn't people rely on the pill as their sole form of contraception? That's what it's designed to be.

I was responding to Monkey61. We do not want to endorse possible irresponsible behaviour on this forum, I felt it needed correction.

Now, can we get this back on topic.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies! Of course I am using condoms too given that I missed the day - I was asking more for the inconvenience and so I would know what to expect!

It hasnt got any heavier so I think it could be the withdrawel bleeding discussed earlier, fingers crossed anyway! Had a chat with the OH last night so between yourselves and himself you've all calmed me down so thank you!!

Have a nice weekend and christmas!

Good luck with that only 99% fully protected on the pill plenty of people have gotten pregnant while on the pill.Mini pill is only 95%. I'd never trust the pill 100%

There are women who have had their tubes tied and still fell pregnant, so apart from not having sex there is no 100% method. Apart from maybe a vasetomy, along with the pill, a condom and of course withdrawal before coming method. The pill even at 99% is still pretty good odds, dont rubbish it too much.
