Cannondale Stem/Headsight custom light question

This may be a stupid and pointless question but...

Since I got the new bike Ive been hunting down the Cannondale headsight light and stem that they stopped making in 2007 as I love the way its integrated into the bike:

After a lot of detective work and emailing I now have two options. I can buy a used stem and light from a guy in Milan for (a haggled) price of €70, or I can buy an unused light and stem from the guys who made it for exposure (UEI) at £98 stg. both prices actually seem reasonable, as im told that the equivalent of the light alone is worth over €100.

Is there anything I need to be worried about when buying a second hand stem? Ive seen pics and it looks perfect. Should I buy both (after xmas:() for spares as the likelihood of ever seeing this again is quite rare?

Is it a headshok stem or is a standard sized stem? Once it's the right size go for it. Looks really good!!

Its the headshok stem as far as i know. I wanted to just buy the light and attach it to me existing stem, but the battery actually sits inside the stem so I need to get both.

That stem will only fit a cannondale with a headshok head tube and fork. If thats your bike your sorted if not I'd doubt there's anything you can do. The headshok steerer is an odd size, just a little larger than a standard 1.5. I remember changing from the headshok fork and having to get a specific adapter headset and a new stem!!:(

Hmmm... Ok thanks. I have a Cannondale C4 31,8 stem, a 1/18 semi integrated headset, Bad Boy 31,8 bars and the SI Fatty Solo Disc specific fork.

I assumed it would fit as its from the older model of my bike. I may have been a touch rash i admit. :o

Probably can't hurt to e-mail and check the sizes for definate but I'd say you might be out of luck alright.

    Will do, thanks!

I wonder if I can dismantle it and put the pieces into my stem... might be worth a try for 70 blips.

So I got this and as somefool mentioned, its just slightly too big. I can actually take the light component off the headshok stem and slide the battery down the existing stem, but the holes are spaced just a tiny bit further apart, so it wont screw in. Its very annoying as its a really good light as well.

Since I now have the new stem anway, would it be possible to get a headset adaptor (the new stem is a mil or two bigger in circumference) or would that be just throwing good money after bad?
