Just noticed two little sections (46 & 47) of the above act that came into force 10 days ago.

Basically, the age old problem of neighbour disputes surrounding new builds and extensions has received a statutory treatment.

In the past individuals had to go to all sort of bother to get access to a neighbour's property to enable them to carry out 'necessary' works on their own house or build.

Now, if agreement cannot be reached with your neighbour you are able to get an order from the District Court (procedure looks fairly straight forward) which will grant you access. The same obviously applies to the neighbour and there is the usual stuff about reinstatement and damage. But methinks this is progress.
