No Insurance Disc - summons

    Hi,

Got summons recently for not having the Insurance disc displayed and for not showing them at the Garda station.

I had the insurance and showed it at the Garda station with in the stipulated 10 days, but still got the summons(paid the 60 Euro FCT for not displaying the Disc). I spoke to the person who applied for the summons to be issued and he said that I don't need to come to the court and tore the summons off saying that its a human error. I have requested him for some written confirmation that the summons have been canceled, but didn't get a positive response.

so the question i'm trying to ask is - is there any way of confirming that the summons have been really canceled? I could go into court on that day, but just trying to avoid taking a day off from work.

    Thanks in advance.
    Vis.

    I'd go just in case.
I wouldn't not show up unless you have written confirmation.

Always turn up in court. All it will take is something to go wrong and you will be convicted in your absence and end up with a fine. Get to the court early and remind the prosecuting guard about the case. Haved all of your insurance paperwork with you. You do not need to show a disc until 10 days after the insurance has been put in place.
A conviction for an offence like this is to be avoided. It may come back to cause trouble of all kinds in the future.

+1 , if you can't at least go to your local Garda station and ask for a garda to look it up on Pulse and ask if it has been cancelled and get written confirmation of same.

Ok. so, the Guarda stn would have visibility of the summons is it? The station is open until 9pm(I think) so I can check with them.

    Thanks a mil
