Hi guys im new to the forum and have a few questions i would like help with as its very stressing for me and my partner.

Im on jobseekers benefit since november 2nd after i was made redundent.
I was living in private rented accomodation since febuary which i received rent allowence for once i lost my job.
Last week i moved into a house with my girlfirend and another couple.
My girlfirend is latvian and her stamps see was claiming have now run out and she was told before we moved intogether she had to either work of go back home.
So now we are living together she has no income what so ever.
I have been told i may claim for her as a qualified adult.?
Can i claim rent allowence for both of us?
The rent for both of us per month is 370?

    Any help is welcome.
    Regards
    Shay.

Who told your girlfriend that she had to either work or go home? Someone in the pub?

The good news is that yes, you can claim for girlfriend as a dependant. Just go into local SW office and ask for her to be added to your claim. As for the rent allowence you need to speak to your CWO.

Not being smart but you should know that something as important and basic as this kind of information should come from the experts .....aka social welfare office.....

BTW I wouldnt delay if I were you as these claims are not usually backdated!

If she doesn't satisfy the habitual residence condition she may not qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance. However, if she's been in Ireland long enough to have qualified for Jobseeker's Benefit at some point, I would be surprised if she did not satisfy the HRC.

The CWO told her to work or go back to latvia.
My girlfriend is living here 3 years and we are engaged.
We are due to be married and our future is here in ireland.

I've been more or less told that by a deciding officer at the SWO as well. Even though I satisfy the HRC. Just luck I guess, whether you get a xenophobic person to deal with you or not.

The CWO is not the deciding officer for the HBC - I suggest you go into your local SWO and get this sorted.

Any chance you guys could get down to the registry office? I mean, if you've already decided to get married, just do it... that's how my husband and I got married (we didn't have any money either!)

We though about that but we want to do it the proper way as it will only be the one time we do it.(hopefully)

I went into my hatch(SWO) and the guy said he will inform the inspector about this but did not ask me for any details about my girlfriend which i though was weird.
