    Holy Jesus!

I saw it on IMDB but honestly never thought it would be made, but it appears JC has come out of retirement!

About 1:30 in there's a little behind the scenes shot, not much but it proves it exists which is enough for me! It doesn't hurt that I'm currently at the end of watching both of Carpenter's Masters of Horror episodes back to back, reassurance of life after Ghosts Of Mars! :D

ANY John Carpenter would be worth watching.

What was his second Masters of Horror? I only saw Cigarette Burns (think that was the name) and thought it was excellent.

Ned you know me so well! :D Seriously though, Carpenter gets a lot of bad rep, mainly over Ghosts Of Mars but that aside, Vampires is one of his more recent offerings I thouroughly enjoyed. Most say he lost it ages ago, I beg to differ.

Second was Pro-Life in Series 2. Personally I thought it was a let down after Cigarette Burns mainly due to him ramping up the gore and working with a creature (JC works best with smoke and mirrors and shadows and ghouls IMO, apart from The Thing obviously)

Still a good entry though and it's got Ron Perlman, deadly!

Hold your tongue before you deface the epic masterpiece that is Vampires!! Stay thy foul words beast and begone from yonder forum! :D Sorry, just finished an English exam!

Seriously though, Vampires not still vintage Carpenter except with worse actors and less money than ever?

It's the everything. I don't just say this as a fanboy, Carpenter has a unique talent. What he does may not be to everyone's taste but to those who enjoy his stuff he never fails, even a film as sub par as Ghosts Of Mars can still be watched and enjoyed to some level. Do you think a devout Coppolla fan can watch Jack and still enjoy it on some level? Maybe there's a certain element of shlock expected from Carpenter that helps him, I dunno!

Nearly a year exactly since I started this thread but here it is, the theatrical trailer for John Carpenter's The Ward:

I have to say I'm delighted with the visual side of things so far anyway, the sixties/seventies setting will help in a huge way, Carpenter doesn't move with the times all that well. I only hope that given this is someone else's script that it isn't the usual disappointing modern horror spook story. Early reports are that it's a little confused between standard horror and Shutter Island but I'll buy that for a dollar!

I'm also a John Carpenter fan ... Going to see The Ward later in the week.

Just to point out, anyone who liked the movie 'Vampires' might like to check out the original novel it was based on (if they haven't already)- 'Vampire$' by John Steakley. Bit of a guilty pleasure ... Sort of a 'splatterpunk' take on the genre. The movie deviates from the book a fair bit in plot terms but the concept is still there- Team Crow is a mercenary outfit hunting vampires in small towns for profit.

    Bugger. :(

He doesn't understand Otis (ned, whoever you are! :D)

spooky - how bad is bad though? John Carpenter nut will still like it and not have to defend it like Ghosts Of Mars or Saw 7 bad?

ah it wasent the worst film id ever seen or any thing like that. It was just OK I supose. Though I am generally optimistic when it comes to films there are not many I dont like.
The film relied on LOUD NOISE jump out at you scares that you see coming anwyays. Kinda reminded me a bit of 5 girls but with no Ron Perlman.

I guess I'll end up defending it so! As long as it's not offensively bad I'm happy, I just want John Carpenter to have enough kudos to take up the director's slot on a more regular basis!
