Annual Sub's

The big bad budget has been announced, it affects some more than others. In light of a recent thread on renewing your membership I thought to add a poll to a thread to see how much your general folk are prepared to pay for their annual subs, not talking about joining fee’s.

Personally I spent €1500 for my annual sub. In the Dublin locality the vast majority of clubs charge in and around this amount. Public courses are cheaper, however in my experience I’ve found that they don’t cater as well for members than in your members run clubs, but that’s off topic. By god would I love if I lived down the country and be able to join a good club and pay around the €800 mark to be a member, up in Dublin there’s no chance of that. Again going off topic Murvagh GC is €550 a year to join, and from the reports I’ve read it’s a much better course than say the Island (just an example) or other top links courses etc… which is huge money to join.

Last year I played in a lot of opens which add a considerable amount on top of your annual sub, next year I’ll be sticking to my club competitions for most weekends. I think for those that are renewing their memberships the important factor is that you get value for your money and get out and play as much as you can and make sure that the product that you pay for i.e. the course is in the best possible nick.

I'm leasing and paying monthly, so no one off payment, which suits me nicely.

Is this subs purely - excluding levies for clubhouses, bars, GUI membership or the total outlay?

Sorry should have explained this better. It’s the lot; GUI, bar, levies and annual sub altogether. What will golf in your home club cost you for 2010.

Surprised there’s not more in the < €2000 category, as courses like Moyvalley, New Forest and Castleknock all charge this and higher.

Mines €1866 including €200 for the bar/restaurant. It's gone up since last year and can't be paid in instalments which is a bit of a gyp.

Mine at Gowran Park is supposed to be around €859 which includes mambership, VAT, GUI fee and a small club levy. It hasn't changed for the last few years. I'm not sure if there is a scheme in place but since it gets billed to my card, I have tried to put a bit of surplus cash (ha!) into the account over the last while so that when January hits then the pain will be reduced a little.
Can't complain for the quality at that price in my opinion... ouch to paying ~2k a year though

    970 subs (or something close)
    100 Bar
    200 Clubhouse

    1270 total - same as 2009

2k all in (10% extra if you use Fairways Finance)
    includes €250 bar levy

Same as last year (which was reduced from 2007 by removing a clubhouse levy)

CityWest 5 day membership and Gym membership thrown in €1200 with €500 up from and the rest over 6 months by direct debit.

Bit peeved that they are now only opening the Lakes course on selected days though...as an economic measure.

And working night shifts is a dream...I am at the course at 8am every day on the way home from work, golf if it's fine, Gym if it's not....and it's been suprisingly fine.

There was a two week period where I played 10 times...and I'm still rubbish!
