was made redundant in jan and after 10 long months i finally found work- thought all my bdays had come at once and so delighted to be working- 2 months into the job and i feel as if im living a nightmare- im literally working with the team lead from hell- firstly he works week on week off(which is a blessing in disguise in some ways) so training has been all over the place- the week he is off no-one in the office is willing to help me saying its my managers job to train. the weeks that he is back are hell- he is constantly mentioning not revieweing contract after 6months probationary period, had told me im like a retarded toddler and that i need to get a grasp of the english language and when i told him i didnt have a clue of the ans he told me to get a clue or get a P45.(he always laughs after saying things like this to make light of the situation) today he turned around in front of everyone and told me not to be stupid...last friday 1actually spent the day crying at my desk as im so overwhelemed in there- i have had not 1 positive comment and everything i do is deemed wrong- so grateful to be working but dunno how long can stick this

I cant go to HR as its such a small company that there is no offical HR manager just my manager-what can i do??approaching him really isnt an option as i think ill just break down

What type of things are you failing to do/require training on for the job if you don't mind me asking?

Sounds like bullying especially the way he is going about it. Very unusual for other people in a team not to help out the new person. What job role is it?

A team leader is not management.
And he once did your job at one stage. The decision to keep you or not is not up to this team leader, it's up to your manager. So go to them and trying to get a training plan with agreed dates and objectives together. They would not have hired you if they did not think you are capable.

I am very surprised your teammates won't help you, I'm puzzled by that

Although not strictly in topic, I can tell you that this happens more often than it should. I very often get insults, sarcastic answers and mocking by colleagues in reply to my requests. I don't work with the OP, I'm just saying that some environments are really poor (and management doesn't care).
