I was in Oz for 6 months this year, I got back in September and I am on the JSB. If you have enough credits you should get the JSB.

At the moment your contributions in 2007 are considered for your entitlement for JSB. You need 39 in 2007 (paid or credited, only 13 have to be paid), or 26 paid in 2006 and 26 paid in 2007. You also need 104 contributions paid overall since you started working.
From 2010, 2008 is the year that will be looked at to see if you qualify.

Is that definately the case from Jan 1st?
I worked for 6 months on a salary in 2009 so prob would have made a few bigger payments? Not sure how it works

    Thanks

2 years previous is always the year that is looked at. So for 2010, 39 paid/credited in 2008, or 26 paid in 2007 & 26 paid in 2008.

    Oh 2008, sorry

So durin those years I worked the following:

    Sept 2006 > Sept 2007
    Oct 2007 > Jan 2008
    Jan 2008 > November 2008
    Nov 2008 > December 2008

I was pretty busy for that period so hopefully I qualify

Is there any way I can get a record of my contributions from here, or can I only do it when I apply back home?

Also, does anyone know if you can work a certain amount of hours when you're on JSB?

Did you say you were in Oz for 6 months? Like, do you have to explain why you're only applyin for it now?

Thanks a mil for the info!

Going on the above, you would qualify for JSB (as long as you have paid 104 overall since starting work).
I don't know how you would get a record of your contributions - if you have your P60 for 2008 it will say on that how many weeks you paid PRSI.

The budget says the new rules mean if you're 20/21 you get 100 a week

    Then if you're 22+ you get 150 a week

I'm 22 in Feb, so, do you think if I apply in January, ill be on 100 til im 22, then 150, or does it stick at what it is from the start???

The new rates are for jobseekers Allowance, not benefit - the rate for benefit will be €196.

    Oh ok, cool

Should it vary depending on my age?

Thanks again for all the info, you know your stuff! :D

    more quickies!

    1. My last job was a contract. I wasn't fired, but I didn't quit, it just ended. So does this still count?

    2. Are you allowed work a certain amount of hours while receiving JSB?

    3. How long do yopu have to be on JSB to be paid into you bank??

    CheerZ :)

    1. Yes
    2. No, unless you inform the office and they can then put you on a casual claim where you submit dockets every week informing them of when you worked, and you can't work more than 3 days a week
    3. Depends, but its normally around 6-9 months.

    Another one!

Where on the P60 does it say how many PRSI payments u made?

Will it have my year total, or just for that job?

I worked one job Jan-Nov then a xmas job, only have me P60 from the xmas job

If i need one from the first job, can I get a copy from the tax office or my employer?

    Thanks :)
