**** I'm not looking for medical advice *****

    Hi,

I'm gonna cut to the chase there's no nice way to put this. I've started the Noriday pill haven't had a proper "lady friend" for four months now. For two a weeks on and off for a few days at a time I have had what i presume is my monthlies gone haywire however its brown and doesn't look like it should. Like I said I don't mean to post such graphic details but i'm too embarrassed to say this to my doctor. I simply want to know has any other lady experienced this, I don't want any medical advice.

op, this has kinda happened me too.

sorry, this is gross, squeamish people dont read any further!!

when i'm not on the pill, my period consists of bright red liquid blood.

when i'm on the pill, it's much darker, and not liquid at all, more like clots.

i've never said it to a doctor - too embarrassed.

glad to know im not alone!

    Off topic, but....

It depresses me when girls say they are too embarrassed to discuss something with their doctor. Ladies its your body! Its important! Your doc is a professional, please try and get over any shyness so you can talk to them if and when you need to.

And yes the pill can play havoc with your system, but you really should mention it to the doc at your next checkup.

That happened to me the first few months I was on Noriday too, I'd have no period for four months and then a really light one for two days, this happened two or three times before they settled down, and I think I'm back to about once a month now. Apparently it's pretty common.

I'm on Noriday too and while I do still know what time of the month it is down there, it's very, very light in comparison to normal. I think it's great TBH. I was on the implanon for nearly three years and it had exactly the opposite effect - the oestrogen doesn't agree with me apparently.

I am attending the hospital and not my regular doctor i'm not shy about these things but you don't know what the doctors are like up there, they don't listen to you and are like tablet dispensing robots even the women are not a bit empathetic and they don't encourage you to talk about these things. I see another male doctor the odd time for general complaints (not in the hospital) and i'd have no problem sharing worries with him. Plus my own family doctor is a bit of a creep. Like in any area of work, not all of them are professional at what they do.

Another question about Noriday.. does it make anybody else teary & more emotional. Since I started on it 3 months ago, I'm much more prone to crying than I used to be & get upset over things that wouldn't have bothered me before.

I'm the same with the periods by the way. Had one after I started & nothing since.

I hear ye!!!!! Then again i've been on various different pills and hormone tablet over the past couple of years and Noriday doesn't seem to be the worst. Before I was in the pub with my bf and he said something to annoy me and I started crying uncontrollably and just couldn't stop myself I had to go home and pull myself together, bad times.

I know how you feel. I changed to Noriday because of family medical history. I found the worst part of it was the pains in my boobs. I went to the dr about this and she said it would settle down after 6 months and its has.

I now also hardly get a period but i am not complaining about that!

  • You should never be embarrassed to ask your doctor things - change doctor if you feel this way. Also, you should really educate yourself on these things before starting the pill, either by reading the leaflet or discussing it with your doctor.

    Hi OP
I too am on Noriday and all I can say is lucky you!! I have a bleed every 2 weeks, or I may not have one for 6 weeks. Its normally the first. Its not abnormal to not bleed at all, its part and parcel of using the progestogen only pill.

And I agree with other posters, don't be embarrassed to speak to your doctor, for the love if peanuts, they have seen it all before!! And even if they haven't, they are prefessonal and hardly likely to laugh at you or anything. If you have worries, get them sorted, or it could be too late.

Like I said my docs are far from approachable. Last time I was up there i'd had bouts of dizzy spells for a month at a time and they didn't even look into it.

I'm sure she did read the leaflet, however the leaflet's never actually tell you to expect brown lumps or bright red clots or black blah blah blah, that's why she was posting here.

You make it all sound so simple. I'm blue in the face googling reading books, reading leaflets. Dianette for example, it doesn't tell you in the "leaflet" that it stops your liver burning fat. Off topic I know but my doc waited until I gained 2 stone to tell me this. I'm attending a hospital and have seen many different doctors it's not as simple as just up and changing.

It IS as simple as just up and changing. There's hundreds of thousands of doctors in this country, they're not all useless - so why choose to go to one you can't actually talk to about anything?

There are women's health specialists who DO care about things like this and WILL take the time to go through these things.

If you're attending a hospital - so what? Get out the golden pages, find a GP in your area, make an appointment, and go. There's absolutely no reason you should continue to attend doctors who don't listen to you.

If every time you went to the hairdresser they gave you a different haircut to what you asked for because they didn't listen to what you told them, would you keep going back? No. So why let a doctor give you terrible service? You're paying them just the same.

Hmm local GPs aren't suitable to deal with my condition. Anyways I know myself what i'm talking about. I didn't come on here for a lecure just a simple question. The only other option is going private which will be looked at in the future.

I have to echo some advice given here and this can apply in general to lots of posters, not just those in this thread

    (A) Take the time to find a GP that you are comfortable with. This is highly important - do not continue to be loyal to a family GP or other doctor if you are not comfortable with them.

    (B) Don't be afraid to tell anything to a doctor, even if they are not your regular doctor. With some health issues, you may literally only get one chance - so don't be shy or embarrased.

Please read my posts before you offer advice. I didn't come on here looking for GP recommendations just wanted a simple question answered. That's been done.

As was pointed out the advice in this thread may be helpful to other people not just you

You say your question has been answered, if that is the case then what is the harm in people giving further advice that may help others in a similar situation

We often let threads run long after the OP has gotten their answer and left because the advice applies to many people, if however you feel you have gotten your answer and don't want anything else posted in what you see to be your thread then we can lock it for you

I have absolutely no problem with people posting comments that may be helpful to myself or others but I dont feel people telling me change my GP educate yourself do this or that when they don't know about my situation is helpful to myself or others and honestly it's really annoying.

In a lot of cases changing GP and education are the answers and are helpful to people

If people don't know your situation because you haven't told us (and don't have too) then you can't expect them to give you answers relevant to it tbh

Plus correct me if I am wrong but I was responding to the Unreg OP not you, if you are the Unreg op then why are you posting in this thread with a registered account?

Also if you have an issue with a post then use the report post button, your recent posts have been back seat modding which is against the charter as it takes threads off topic. If you have an issue with the moderation of the forum then feel free to Pm any of the Mods

I don't understand what you mean when you say how are they supposed to know when I haven't told them my situation??? My question was straightforward and didn't require any further information as far as I can see.

I had already explained to a previous poster my situation regarding GPs etc and people are just repeating whats already been said.

OK if your question has been answered and people are repeating what has already been said and you aren't happy with the replies then I will close this thread as it has served its purpose

If you want it to remain open let me know but bear in mind that whilst you started this thread you are not the moderator of it and it isn't fair for people who have offered advice out of goodness to be rebuked because you are not happy with the answers
