You have two choices, a VGA port, which will need a VGA connector\cable, this is to plug the laptop into older CRT monitors that you might have in your office.. and then there's HDMI, which, typically, is LCD, flat panel and HD displays. You'll need a HDMI cable for that.

Buy a monitor with a HDMI connector. VGA is a dinosaur now. Just to make that clear, after reading your post.

most laptops have a "VGA out" connection, this would be the easiest way to connect a monitor to your laptop...
It's a HP Pavilion DV4, as stated in the OP and covered by Amalgam the spec's online say it has VGA and HDMI ports.

Komplett (Dublin) and Elara (Dublin) both have collection points, meaning.. once your order is ready, you can, if you wish, go and collect it. They *DO NOT* offer a trade counter or walk in sales. The Retailers will tell you when your order is ready and when you can collect it. That is all.

HDMI\Monitor entered into Komplett Search: http://www.komplett.ie/k/search.aspx?q=HDMI&bn=11158&mfr=

HDMI\Monitor entered into Elara Search: http://elara.ie/products/results.asp?srch=HDMI&anyallexact=all&manu=&productcode=&mancode=&searchBtn=Search
