And the best value. Need one for measuring all sorts. Any electricians or people from electrical industry care to comment?

I like the Robin and Fluke range for mains voltage measurment. The Fluke I have has a built in grip on ammeter.

What do you want it for?

What sort of work are you doing?
How accurate do you need it to be?
Roughly how much do you want to spend?

You can spend anywhere from €30 to €1K on a multimeter, depending on what you want/need to do.

As mentioned above fluke are good, but not the be all and end all. I still regularly use a £30 multi meter i bought in 1994, and its just as good as the fluke that i have.

I've been using an Avo meter for years, tough as old boots, and never let me down.

Fluke are the best known brand but you will pay a premium price for there units but more importantly make sure you purchase a multimeter that is rated for your application, ie the Category rating CAT I, CAT II, etc.

You will find the neccessary imformation on google and you will understand what I mean. The amount of people that use the incorrect meter when measuring voltage/current is extremely poor.

Mainly just testing voltages across power supplies, electronics, etc.

My main use for it in the short term will be on a small wind turbine project I am doing. Id also like one that has a continuity alarm in it.

There are ones for 1kV+ and 1kV-? IS that how they are rated?
