    Hi

Looking at getting an Honda Accord estate 04/05 but every car that's for sale has big miles. Im wondering if 80-90k is too much?????

Budget is about 10k with VRT.

    Cheers

I suppose a year would be nice to compare the mileage to?

Accord would be one of the cars I would be least worried about mileage with TBH.

Well at least you know it hasnt being clocked, if your getting it cheap with full service history then there shouldnt be a problem

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

There are very few cars these days that are approaching end of life at 6 years old with 100k miles on them if they are serviced regularly. The Accord surely is not one of them. That said, if you take the most reliable engine out there and not service it for 6 years and 100k miles, it would be amazing if it is still around - it sure is unlikely to survive much longer.

    Servicing is everything!

Well my audi a3 01 has almost 130k on it and still runs well. I'll be worried about selling it with how much people are obsessed with mileage. I guess it's good to know it's also about the state of the car and how much it is looked after rather than just the mileage that some people care about too.

The Accord generally gives very little trouble, they also have a reputation of being owned by retired people in the UK. In saying that the car you are looking at could have been ex fleet at some stage used on the motorway network.

But as Unkel points out its all about how the car was looked after. No matter how reliable a car is if it is not maintained properly it will eventually break. So get a full HPI check done on the car along with verifing the service history with the garages that serviced the car. If the service history is incomplete or missing then walk away as there are too many unknowns.

If the car has a full verified service history then I would have no problem buying one with 80/90k miles.

    Currently have around 135,000km on my 05 Accord 2.0i - 2005, so that's about 84,000 miles.

Full Honda service history up to 90,000km then independant after that. It's due service in 3,000km and flew through the NCT last week with no issues at all. Doesn't drive like it's brand new, but still going strong and I have no worries about it not starting or breaking down.

That sort of mileage wouldn't be an issue on one of those, unless you aren't thinking of keeping it for too long. I'd say there is a fairly limited re-sale market for cars with that sort of mileage.
