Hi, any recommedations of best value on the iPod touch? Need to get one for one of my kids for christmas. Does the fact that it's 2nd or 3rd generation make a difference? All recommendations gratefully received! :D

Apple tightly control the pricing of their products so it can be hard to find somewhere that sells any lower than Apple's own store. The best advice I can give you is look around some of the shops in your area and see who is offering the best deals.

In relation to the two versions, both the 2nd and 3rd share much of the same features but the 3rd generation has:

    The latest software
    Significantly faster hardware
    Slightly shorter battery life
    Voice control
    A light sensor
New earphones with an inline mic and remote

If you can go for the latest version as the hardware is much improved and eventually apps will be released for the differing versions of the touch currently on the market.

If you're in Dublin and can avail of our pick up point, Komplett fits your bill...

iPod Touch 8GB latest generation starting at €179 versus €189 from Apple/retailers. With PUP there's no delivery charge... With AnPost it's €191.51, so no help there for now I'm afraid.
