Just wondering if anyone has on old mtb that perhaps they are selling and are willing to let it out to make a few bob? I am a student who got into the sport in whistler over the summer but i now want to entice my friends to take it up but the only place i can find letting mtb's is ballyhoura(€40) and the trip down from dublin becomes a bit pricey for students. So anyone think hey could let out a mtb for a few bob let us know, thanks

Ye the college have a club but they dont have bikes and to be honest only the roadies seem active. The mtb side havn'e had an outing yet. €30 which the rental place's are charging is a bit steep for students

Maybe consider road biking instead? It is after all far better.

Or cyclocross. It's so hot right now.

I should have a cross bike built up by the weekend... currently in bits on my sitting room floor. I think I have all the bits anyway.

€20 for the day and 15 mins drive from ballinastoe trails.

€30 for the day and they deliver within dublin

Also check out epicmtb.com and madmtb.com The two biggest dublin mtb clubs, they run beginner spins every month or so and if you ask nicely someone might lend you a bike for the day.

I was in much the same position as you, student just getting into the sport and wanted to try it out a bit before committing to a bike. I went up with a few m8's to ballinastoe rented the bikes and tried it out. In the end decided I liked it and bought a cheap second hand bike.

Might be a bit of an uphill slope persuading your friends. I got mine to come along once but no one seemed interested to come again no matter how much I nagged.

I'm in tcd but when you say you have a bike I'm guessing you mean a road bike if your looking for mtb rental? Road biking isn't really my thing. I go for a quick spin now and then but I don't have a proper bike and going up hills with a rigid mountain bike even on slicks isn't fun.

However if you'd like to come along for a mtb spin give me a shout. I'm trying to get into some of the club spins (for which you kinda need to have your own bike) but I might be bringing a friend (complete begineer to mtb) up to ballinastoe this saturday. Theres a 50/50 chance he might cancel on me so no guarantee's but if he's up for it your welcome to come along.
