The 'library' and I use the term loosely

    Right:
    1. Computers are unbelievably slow, go into some kind of installation routine if you want to download a word document, goes through IE setup every time its used on a session, some mice are not optical, no mouse mats, some aren't hooked up to printers, can take up to 3 minutes to log into., firefox doesn't work on any machine I've been on- this is basic basic stuff.
    2. There is no stapler available in the library, let me repeat that- there is no stapler available in the library.
    3. 'Librarians' blabbing on the phone in reception at the top of their voices on personal calls.
    4. Bizarrely, you have to go off-campus to buy printer cards, apparently because the librarians cannot handle cash. I've been in a real university library and it had several card dispensing machines. Simple.

    The heat.....the heat. I can't back up any of your claims as I have rarely stayed in the library longer then two minutes to get a book because of the god damn heat

    Hey. To address your points. You made some relivant ones but also your wrong on a few.

    1. The computers are not great...lets be fair about it. However if you go down to the back of the library there is 5 brand new computers that are very good.

    2. There is stapliers at the front desk on a tray.

    3. Can't address the personal calls one as I've never experienced it ever and I honestly don't think they do. The Library staff are some of the most professional and helpful in the college in my opinion.

    4. Print cards can be be bought in the college shop beside the old gate or Arthur's bar. You're right there are no machines and maybe the not being able to buy them at the desk is something that should be addressed by Library management.

    In all honesty the best way to effect change is to say it! The college does surveys in class - and I can tell you THEY ARE looked at. Also just complain in person! Seriously it makes a difference. Complaints are listened too. Chatting about it here is fine, but just remember it does nothing as it's not an offical channel - you're not letting the college know this way.

    Just to make sure, I asked again yesterday at the front desk, and no, there is no stapler in the library.

    I agree, the library is a mess and those computers are just... rubbish. Way too slow and some of them don't even work. The staff is generally nice though. At least from my own experience.

    And I agree about the heat. If you open a window, all the nerds come to you and say: "It's too cold!". But you can see they are actually sweating. Yikes.

    Someone told me there is a group of acne ridden students who use the liberary as a sort of steam room to open their pores. They ensure all windows are shut and all heaters are on full blast. I took this up with the liberarian and he denied this secret society even existed! It seems no one wants to talk about this secret group of spotarians for fear of reprisal.

    It's amazing how the staff in a college that charge 6 grand a semester can't handle money... They manage to take it off us all the time.. And the computers suck... Where is our money going?

    Probably the worst library I have ever been in. Computers are a total joke for the reasons mentioned by OP and the print card system is amazingly stupid and antequated (why can't you put money on your student ID card and use that?)
    The photocopiers are actually ok when they work, but more are needed as the queues can be epic.
    The staff are, seemingly, bi-polar... one day friendly as ever and the next are awful.
    The heat, yes... hot.

    I can also vouch that there has never been a stapler in the library.

    There was a stapler in there once upon a time but everyone who had to print off assignments had to use it and it was either just too much work for the staff to have some staples on standby or the college was just too cheap to have more than one. The last time I needed a stapler in the Library I was told to go down to the main reception and use the one there....which they put on a chain, presumably in case someone robs it.
