Advice on buying a TV?

    Hi,

Unsure if I'm in the right forum but I figure you guys are quite familiar with TVs and might be able to help me.

Currently looking at buying a TV as a Christmas present, and am either going to get a Samsung or an LG I reckon. Can anyone advise me which is likely to be a more reputable brand, or are more reliable etc? Models are similar in price and detail.

    Thanks!

What ever model you go for make sure it has an Mpeg4 tuner in it.

You should probably have posted in the Home Entertainment section for more replys. Also a budget and a list of your sources would be helpful.

You're probably in the wrong forum since this one is mainly about transmission rather than the receiver but what the hell...

You're spot on with your research, LG and Samsung are up there with the best. I recently bought a Philips 42PFL8404 but my final shortlist came down to three: the Philips, an LG 42LH4000 and the Samsung LE40B650. In the end there wasn't much to separate them but what swung it was the four years warranty being offered by the Philips shop in Dame St. which is owned by the Richer Sounds folks, they have a dedicated forum here and give 10% discount to boardies...

Thanks for the replies folks. Getting it for a bedroom, so I'll be going for a '22 inch or possibly '19. Looking to spend in the region of €200-250.

    Models I've picked out include:

    Samsung: LE22B450 €259
    LE22B350 €229
    LE19B450 €235

    LG: 19LH2000 €209
    22LG3100 €249
    22LH2000 €269

Got the above info from the Pixmania website.

LG 19LH2000 is 199.99 in Power City, I just recommended it to a friend for his bedroom.

The 22LG3100 doesn't have the mpeg4 tuner. The *LH* Models usually have the mpeg4 tuner.

    +1

Same for my friend! He was well impressed when he saw the DTT tests on it. First time he had seen them.
