Seems that there was now no winner of the womens 100m in the Sydney Olympics.

They have taken the gold off Jones, but although have nothing to suggest any wrong doing, at the time, by Thanou can't bring themselves to award her the gold. So there is now two silvers and a bronze medal for that event.

Should they have given her the gold or just taken that silver off her as well and shuffled everyone else up two places instead?

Tough decision this one, but I think they made the correct one. It wouldn't look good taking the medal off a dope fiend like Jones, and then giving it to someone like Thanou who subsequently went on to do what she did, which in lots of ways is worse than just failing a dope test.

On the other hand they had no actual grounds to disqualify her at the time so she can keep her medal- sort of like Michelle Smith keeping her Atlanta ones.

And the 3rd and 4th get their appropriate reward.

So strike Jones from the books, and a nice "up yours!" to Thanou. Fair enough really.
