OK , this comes from a salesman so caveat emptor

    http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/article/14621/comms/irelands-digital-future-evolves-as-upc-nears-120mbps-broadband
Coan described Galway city as a window to Ireland’s digital future, where

    1. Broadband penetration is 50pc higher than the national average

    2. Four out of five homes take cable broadband.

    3. Two out of every five homes in Galway take 10Mbps and above.”

Meaning that half of UPC customers in Galway are on 10mbits ( now upgraded to 15mbits for new customers for €32 a month) or higher.

As for NEW UPC customers and UPC are growing.
Out of our total broadband base, 60pc of people are taking speeds of 10Mbps and 20Mbps.”

    And UPC is

    a) not universally available in Galway
    b) has not upgraded all its cable to support BB yet.
